Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia, Shavarsh Kocharyan, has responded to the criticism of Turkey's Premier and Foreign Minister concerning Armenian President's statement referring to historic Armenian lands.

"I have got the impression that Turks have not read the full text, interpreting Sargsyan's words out of context. Or they are clinging to his words. In fact, Serzh Sargsyan made a serious and reasonable statement. The hysteria stirred by Turkey is not only ostentatious, but also gives rise to serious contemplation," said Kocharyan.

On July 23, in Tsakhkadzor, in reply to a pupil's question about the possible return of Western Armenia, along with Ararat, Serzh Sargsyan said, "It depends on you and your generation. I think, my generation has fulfilled its task: when it was necessary in the beginning of the 90-s to defend part of our fatherland, Karabakh, from the enemy, we did it. I am not saying this to insult or scold you. I mean to say that each generation has its responsibilities which have to be carried out with honor and dignity."
