TV companies ignore Davit Harutyunyan’s appeal
The opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) holds its recurrent rally in downtown Yerevan on August 2.
During the recently launched government-opposition talks, the HAK proposed that authorities remain committed to the principles of freedom of press and allow televising a video notifying of the opposition's rally.
The issue was ignored during the second round of talks between opposition and coalition representatives on Tuesday. Instead, head of the coalition working group Davit Harutyunyan called on television stations to provide equal footing for the opposition and coalition.
Anyway, TV companies have remained indifferent to Harutyunyan's appeal. Vahagn Hayotsyan, Secretary of the Armenian National Movement (HHSh), informed A1+ that only Yerkir Media TV has responded to HAK's proposal, though they noted that the TV Company is offended by the HAK and its leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan who has repeatedly denied their invitation to an interview.
"To tell the truth, I do not see reasons for offense. The TV Company actually denied televising the video," Hayotsyan said adding that the HAK is ready to pay for transmission.
