Architect Sarhat Petrosyan today said the Yerevan Municipality still hasn't confirmed the construction of a tower in the yard of the Government building.

"The tower was not included in Tamanyan's plan. If a second-year architect student presented it, it would be rejected," says Sarhat Petrosyan and attaches importance to the fact that there has not been any public discourse as is clearly stated in the law.

Construction of the tower began after uproar three months ago.

On July 21, the construction of a tower was not on the urbanization council's agenda at Yerevan Municipality. However, Sashur Kalashyan yesterday raised the issue of construction and recalled that the question of constructing the tower based on Chief Architect of Yerevan Narek Sargsyan's plan or that of Alexander Tamanyan was raised during the first debate.

"During the vote, the mayor set aside Narek Sargsyan's plan. He said he was going to put Tamanyan's tower up for a vote and everyone voted for that one. Now everyone says they had been in favor of Narek Sargsyan's project," said Sashur Kalashyan.

Chief Architect of Yerevan Narek Sargsyan's plan for construction of a hotel building near "Republic Square" metro station was also discussed and was approved during yesterday's meeting.
