Consultations at the MFA
Consultations between heads of departments of the Armenian and Greek Ministries of Foreign Affairs were held at the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Heading the consultations from the Armenian side was Head of the Department for Europe Armen Liloyan, while Head of the Department for CIS Countries, Ambassador Carolos Gadis headed the consultations from the Greek side.
The consultations were held with the participation of the heads and representatives of departments for international organizations, cultural and humanitarian issues, multilateral and bilateral cooperation and legal issues of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation was discussed. The sides gave a positive evaluation of the level of Armenian-Greek political dialogue and in this context set aside the importance of the RA President's state visit to Greece in January in terms of bringing a new sweep and conveying a new content to bilateral ties. The process of fulfillment of the agreements reached during the RA President's state visit was summed up.
The steps to be taken for the stimulation of trade-economic relations were discussed in detail and views were exchanged on the opportunities for expansion of those relations in new spheres. On that occasion, importance was attached to the subsequent session of the Armenian-Greek inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation.
The Armenian side presented the process of cooperation between Armenia and the EU. An agreement was reached on further steps for promoting the Armenian-Greek cooperation within the framework of the EU Eastern Partnership Plan.
On the same day, the Greek delegation was received by RA Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Kirakossian, who presented Armenia's relations with countries in the region.
The deputy foreign minister touched upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution. The Greek side expressed its support for the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs in the conflict resolution.
