U.S. Secretary of State leaving for Istanbul
Turkey will seek support for a "road map" to help end the Libyan crisis when countries backing NATO's military mission gather in Istanbul to ratchet up the pressure on Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and some 40 other members of the so-called International Contact Group on Libya will hold their fourth meeting on Friday to support a post-Gadhafi era, boost support to the Libyan main opposition group and plot steps for a political transition.
According to Russian radio station Echo of Moscow (Ekho Moskvy), the meeting attendees will discuss a proposal by Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini to increase pressure on the Gadhafi administration.
However, some of the meeting participants are against continuing military actions in Libya.
Turkey seeks to reach an immediate cease-fire and a negotiated political solution, Reuters»- reported.
