New international advisory group to be formed

Today Secretary of the National Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan received Coordinator of the "Complex Administration of Borders in the South Caucasus" Project, Philip Pierce.

Artur Baghdasaryan underlined the need for a realistic needs assessment for the upgrading of border infrastructures. The assessment will allow effective distribution of financial resources and attached importance to support from EU experts in this context.

The NSC Secretary proposed to hold debates with the participation of local beneficiaries and corresponding EU representatives, giving the opportunity to view the border passing of citizens and cargo step-by-step, identify the current issues and indicate directions for solutions.

Philip Pierce informed that it is foreseen to create an international advisory group for complex administration of borders, which can play an important role by providing professional support.

The sides discussed the issue of organizing an international conference devoted to the complex administration of borders with the participation of Eastern Partnership, EU and other countries in Armenia to present the progress made in this sphere, to exchange the best experience and hold debates on issues related to border administration, reports the NSC press service.
