UK pledges support to Minsk Group

RA Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandyan had a meeting with UK Foreign Affairs Secretary William Hage and State Minister for European Affairs David Lidington in the capital of the United Kingdom.

Before the meeting, Edward Nalbandyan and David Lidington signed an agreement "On the exclusion of double taxing of income and property and prevention of avoiding taxes between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland".

The agenda for negotiations included a broad range of issues related to bilateral ties, as well as regional and international issues.

Edward Nalbandyan and his British counterparts discussed in detail future steps for political dialogue, the stimulation of bilateral ties, partnership within international organizations, as well as the activation of business ties and cultural exchange.

The ministers also touched upon the Armenia-European Union cooperation. In this regard, UK Foreign Minister William Hage welcomed the deepening cooperation and strengthening of relations between Armenia and the European Union. The interlocutors discussed in detail issues related to the resolution of conflicts in the region. In that subtext, Minister Nalbandyan presented Armenia's positions on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict resolution and voiced hope for the resolution of the conflict in the case of Azerbaijan's show of political will, realism and constructivism. In this subtext, Minister Lidington expressed the UK's support to the process of negotiations mediated by the Minsk Group Co-Chairs, emphasizing the need for taking steps for strengthening confidence and the inadmissibility of a military solution to the issue.
