S. Sargsyan: “We shall be the strong party”
Serzh Sargsyan today attended the first conference of the young officers of the RA Armed Forces at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet after Alexander Spendiaryan.
"We continue to advocate for peace but if invaders try to plot new adventures, we shall be ready to give an adequate response. We shall again be stronger because the one, who protects his home and country, is unconquerable," said the Commander-in-Chief of the RA Armed Forces.
In his speech Sargsyan addressed several precepts, which he considered highly important especially for young officers making their first steps.
"Our society has forgotten that officers are members of intelligentsia who have received higher education. Yes, our officers are the backbone of the state. The state is as strong as its officers. With your help we can eradicate the image of a rough and tactless soldier from the society," said Sargsyan.
"In the last war, Armenian soldiers destroyed all fortresses. The power of our blows stirred up panic and despair in the ranks of our enemy. And we saw our enemy fleeing from the battlefield. Our retaliatory firing was praised as an act to protect nation's freedom and human dignity. The relationship between our soldiers was an example of friendship and brotherhood. Neither new recruits nor experienced mercenaries could defeat us; they encouraged us to new feat," he said.
"Yes, we won a long and unequal war. Under the words "unequal conditions" many understand that Azerbaijan had more money, equipment and manpower. It is true, but the disparity lay in the fact that a strong country (Armenia) was fighting against a weak one. Freedom-fighters were fighting against conquerors and injustice, and we were the embodiment of justice," Sargsyan concluded.
