Premier Sargsyan visits Armenian village in Rostov region
In the course of his visit to Rostov-on-Don, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan visited the Armenian village of Chaltr in Myasnikyan region to meet local residents and get familiar with history and activities of the local Armenian community.
Tigran Sargsyan left for Rostov on July 7 to attend the 13th sitting of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
The Armenian Premier visited the village's St. Hambartsum church and laid a wreath at khachkar (cross stone) and memorial to the victims of the Great Patriotic War. The head of the Armenian government visited the historic-ethnographic museum of Chaltr.
There are eight Armenian villages in Rostov region with a total population of 30 000. Local Armenians preserve the traditions of their homeland in all spheres of life.
