“Armenian opposition is rational”
"No European country, people or society has the qualities that the Armenian people have shown during the past three years of the pan-national movement," former political prisoner Sargis Hatspanyan said in his speech at the HAK rally.
"No society wouldn't stand united as one at a square under such conditions for three years in any country, be it France, Belgium or the United Kingdom. We showed countries that are considered civilized what being civilized is all about. During conversations, the representatives of European countries have told me that unlike countries in similar situations, the process of establishing democracy in Armenia is peaceful and without any turbulence," said Hatspanyan.
Hatspanyan also mentioned that the authorities were delaying social processes taking place in the country with its irrationality.
"The Armenian opposition is rational and is conveying that rationale on behalf of this large part of the people," he continued.
Hatspanyan also touched upon the behavior of the political prisoners in the past three years. "We showed the quality of our struggle through our behavior and line of conduct. Many prisoners joined us with the demand for legality from the prison administration," said the former political prisoner.
He also informed that he had appealed to the Armenian authorities for the right to permanent residency.
"In 2008, Robert Kocharyan demanded that I leave the country after having repatriated to Armenia 21 years ago. Thank God I'm still in my country and I hope to stay here," Hatspanyan said in closing.
