Etchmadzin Mayor Karen Grigoryan is not at variance with ex-parliamentarian Hakob Hakobyan (nicknamed "Choyt"), the Mayor's Office of Etchmiadzin City told A1+.

The statement came after the press reported about a dispute between the two men who allegedly began a propaganda war against each other ahead of the 2012 parliamentary elections.

"Karen Grigoryan excellently performs his duties as a mayor and intends to continue his programs. To this end, Grigoryan will put forward his candidature at the next mayoral elections in October, 2012. He is not going to run for parliament," said the Mayor's Office.

As for the press reports that the body-guards of Lieutenant General Manvel Grigoryan beat a young man in Etchmiadzin, the Mayor's Office said, "The police know the names of the guilty persons. We are in no way linked to the incident."

Karen Grigoryan is the son of Manvel Grigoryan, Chairman of the Yerkrapah Union of Volunteers (YKM).
