Armenia's chief infectionist Ara Asoyan is still unaware of the root cause of an infection that was detected among residents of Nor Kharberd village in Ararat Marz (province).

A few days ago, about 12 residents of the village were hospitalized with symptoms of intoxication. They suffered from giddiness, general weakness, high temperature and diarrhea.

While the patients say that the infection was caused by water, the country's chief infectionist excludes water as the primary source of the infection.
Two days ago, sixteen-year-old resident of Nor Kharberd Lilit Muradyan was taken to Erebuni medical centre with the same symptoms.

Muradyan's condition deteriorated after child delivery on June 4. She was taken to hospital with dizziness and high temperature. A few days later, another two patients were hospitalized with the same complaints.
Lilit's father, Artashes Muradyan believes that the infection was caused by water.

Ara Asoyan today visited the hospital to meet with patients.

"We cannot give a definite answer yet. We need time to sum up the results of the test," said Asoyan.
