Murad Bojoyan released
Turkologist Murad Bojoyan, arrested in January 2002 for alleged espionage in favor of Turkey, was released from Yerevan-Kentron penitentiary on June 10.
Bojoyan was charged with passing "military, economic and political information" on to Turkish intelligence and was sentenced to ten years in prison. In particular, Bojoyan was accused of passing a broad range of information to Turkish journalists Mehmet Ali Birand (CNN) and Mithat Bereket (NTV).
While in prison Bojoyan was regularly taken to the Hospital for Convicts because of major health problems.
