Residents horrified
The Local Developers Company's construction of a multi-story elite building in the middle of Teryan 23, Teryan 25 and Lalayants 37 Streets in Yerevan has deprived children of a playground, and the elders of a green area. The government has decided to alienate this territory for state needs.
As resident of the building on Teryan 23 Vardan Geravetyan told "A1+", the company representatives came, destroyed the playground and started construction without letting the residents know in advance.
Even though there are already enormous holes in the yard where construction is taking place, residents assure that there is not even a plan for construction.
"They first told us that it would be a 10-story building, but then we found out that it was going to be a 12-story building. I wouldn't be surprised if tomorrow they decided to build a 16-story building. They're doing whatever they want to do," Vardan Geravetyan told "A1+".
The residents also claim that the construction is causing a threat to the green zone and is endangering the seismic and urbanization safety of the adjacent buildings. They say the crane horrifies them.
"People are always in stress when the crane goes here and there, especially since there has been a case when the crane turned over a couple of times," said resident Vardan Gabrielyan.
If the multi-story building is erected, the residents are sure that they will not have electricity in the afternoons.
The Local Developers Company, which belongs to "H2" television owner Samvel Mayrapetyan, has offered the residents a small price for leaving their apartments, but the residents have denied and are preparing to hold several actions soon.
