The trial against Tigran Postanjyan, brother of opposition Heritage Party MP Zaruhi Postanjyan, ended at the Court of General Jurisdiction of First Instance of Arabkir and Kanaker-Zeytun Administrative Districts.

Tigran Postanjyan was released from the courtroom under the general amnesty declared by Armenian authorities in May.

Postanjyan announced in court that he was prepared to prove his innocence, should the court decide to change the precautionary measure. He also added that he would have never agreed to the amnesty and was prepared to fight till the end; however, the "humiliating prison conditions" forced him to accept the amnesty.

Tigran Postanjyan, a leading specialist in Yerevan's Arabkir district, was charged with receiving illegal remuneration from a state-run agency according to Article 311of the RA Criminal Code. He was placed under arrest on February 23, 2011. On May 11, Postanjyan started a hunger strike in Nubarashen penitentiary in protest against inhuman and humiliating attitude of the prison administration.
