"Aliyev-Sargsyan meeting will be unproductive"
"Our people should not expect any changes from the forthcoming meeting of Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents. It will be another unfruitful meeting," says political scientist Hrant Melik Shahnazaryan.
"Levon Ter-Petrosyan [leader of the Armenian National Congress] has been repeating it for 3 years but as an analyst, I am not interested in Ter-Petrosyan's viewpoint," he said when commenting on Ter-Petrosyan's recent statement that a serious breakthrough is expected in the Karabakh issue and the resource to preserve the status quo is already exhausting.
The political scientist says Turkey and Russia are cooperating in some issues, which will, undoubtedly, affect the talks over Karabakh.
"History has shown the consequences of convergence of interests between two states," he said.
If one wants to live in peace, one should be ready for war. However, Azerbaijan can not wage a war today, even with a strong desire. Once Azerbaijan feels that the country is ready for war, no one can stop it. The only obstacle for it is Armenia's military potential," he said adding that Armenia should do our best to strengthen its army.
