On May 31, Armenian Ambassador to Syria Arshak Poladyan had a meeting with the newly appointed Minister of Higher Education of the Syrian Arab Republic, Dr. Abd Al-Razak Sheikh Isa.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the signing of an agreement on mutual recognition of the diplomas of both countries, the promotion of future cooperation in education and science, as well as issues related to Armenian students' graduate and post-graduate studies at the University of Damascus.
The sides also discussed the minister's possible visit to Yerevan in order to acquainted with the educational system in Armenia and sign the new work plan for 2011-2014, which he accepted with content.
