Who needs awards most of all?
Serzh Sargsyan today honored representatives of scientific and cultural spheres with the Armenian President's 2010 awards for their achievements and contribution to Armenia.
"The achievements of these prominent people belong to the entire Armenian nation. I think Armenian people need these awards more than the laureates themselves. Our public should know these people for the high esteem they receive. With these awards, we show our expectations from them. We all know that a scientist is awarded for a concrete deed which sometimes takes his entire life. He prepares for that "flight" for years, passing through numerous ups and downs," Serzh Sargsyan said during the ceremony.
The award recipients are: Raymond Kevorkian, Israel Charny (for contribution to the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide), Martin Grigoryan, Artsrun Sargsyan (for development of natural sciences), Harutyun Terzyan (for development of engineering sciences and IT), Harutyun Khachatryan, Mikael Stamboltsyan, Ruben Khachatryan, Vrezh Petrosyan, Karen Tsaturyan (for development of art), Vardan (Slavik) Hakobyan (for development of literature) and Argam Ayvazyan (for humanitarian sciences).
Medics, physics and musicians were also awarded.
