Serzh Sargsyan today participated in the 4th Assembly of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia.

Serzh Sargsyan mentioned that the assembly serves as the best occasion to recap and assess the work that has been complicated, as well as revise and change the activities of the chamber based on the assessments and conclusions.

"Our numerous issues don't allow us to look at what is going on around us with ease. We representatives of the state and private sectors are obliged to be one step ahead of events and try to foresee new developments," said Serzh Sargsyan.

"Yes, we have many gaps to fill and many issues to solve. We see them and are aware of them, but awareness should increase our persistence and determination to solve those issues and ensure speedy development. I am more than certain that despite the negative impulses of the outside world and the economy, the closed borders, as well as the geopolitical, social and structural issues, Armenia's economy has a real potential to be among the leading countries with its pace of development."

According to Sargsyan, any serious businessmen with goals cannot limit himself to trade for importing.

"It is clear that that is perhaps easier or simply the usual. But today you must set more serious goals for yourselves. The promotion of local production is the primary goal for all of us and it requires more efforts. But we are not lazy. Yes, it requires new resources and complicated calculations. However, our experts' assessments show that Armenia has the potential that has not been used and the experts needed to do the job," said Sargsyan.

The activities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the last five years were presented, the results of the activities were summed up and the programs for 2011-2015 were predetermined during the Assembly.

The elections for president and the presidency of the Chamber's administration were also held.
