Alik Sargsyan: “I shall no longer pardon anyone”
The Chief of Armenian Police, Lieutenant General Alik Sargsyan says police officers should not hold the same position for 3-4 years.
"It is advisable that policemen be transformed to another department. People can lose their capabilities and loosen control if they hold the same position for three or four years," Alik Sargsyan told journalists on May 20.
Speaking about the criminal case of the former head of the RA Police General Department of Criminal Intelligence, Hovhannes Tamamyan, Alik Sargsyan advised waiting for the compeletion of the investigation.
"Similar phenomena are condemnable. I am not going to "pardon" any of my collagues. Risks are increasing and we will no longer allow any enchroachment," he said.
Hovhannes Tamamyan is charged with Article 308 (Part 2) of the Armenian Criminal Code (abuse of official authority). He was placed under arrest on March 24, 2011. A court in Yerevan ruled on Monday to extend Tamamyan's detention for another two months.
