The Communist Party of Armenia today sent an open letter to Serzh Sargsyan, calling on him to personally interfere and prevent the demolition of Suren Spandaryan's statue at Garegin Nzhdeh Square.

The party finds that his statue should not be moved and there shouldn't be any vandalism.

"We suggest that they renovate square near the former "Hairenik" cinema a little, name it after Garegin Nzhdeh and place Garegin Nzhdeh's statue there," says First Secretary of the CPA Central Committee Ruben Tovmasyan who is certain that his open letter will not go unanswered.

The Communists and the elections

Tovmasyan says the Communist Party of Armenia will take part in the upcoming parliamentary elections and doesn't rule out the party's participation with an alliance.

"We may form an alliance with those who will openly declare to Armenian society that they will fight for a Socialist Republic with everything for humans at its core and will fight against unemployment. The power should be returned to the people and not separate clans that can do whatever they want," Ruben Tovmasyan told "A1+".

The party will participate in the elections with the slogan "Soviet Armenia Built Armenia, All Democrats Destroyed It".

Pioneers are always ready

May 19 is Pioneer Day, but it hasn't been celebrated since the collapse of the USSR.

Comrade Tovmasyan told "A1+" that the pioneers have always stood by the party's side.

Tovmasyan said there is a pioneer organization in Armenia and congratulated all pioneers.
