“Heritage” invited to EU office
Leader of "Heritage" Party Raffi Hovannisian, head of the party's faction Styopa Safaryan and MP Zaruhi Postanjyan met with Ambassadors of EU countries accredited in Armenia and the embassies' diplomats at the EU Office in Yerevan.
Participating in the meeting were UK Ambassador to Armenia Charles Lonsdale, French Ambassador Henri Reno, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden Diana Jansen, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Peter Langenberg, as well as the vice-ambassadors of Romania, Poland and Germany.
Raffi Hovannisian gave a comprehensive presentation of "Heritage" Party's approaches on Armenia's domestic and foreign challenges, as well as security and inter-political developments.
In the context of issues related to security and the region, Hovannisian spoke of the imperative for the recognition of the Republic of Artsakh, the need for coming to grips with history and the Armenian-Turkish relations without preconditions, the challenges facing Armenia's sovereignty, the importance of equal rights and conveying a horizontal nature to Armenia's bilateral and multilateral relations.
Upon the Ambassadors' request, Raffi Hovannisian and "Heritage" MPs presented their visions for future elections and the challenges.
Importance was attached to the dialogue between the majority in parliament and the opposition; the adoption of an electoral code and the implementation of structural reforms through mutual concessions; the multifaceted, impartial and in-depth examination of the events of 1 March 2008; the release of political prisoners, as well as a precise, legal-political evaluation of what happened and the free exercising of the right to rallies as a guarantee for ruling out such a tragedy in the future.
The message was provided by the press service of "Heritage" Party.
