In his words, President of the European People's Party said he had hoped that the Armenian-Turkish relations would enter a new stage of normalization after his meetings with the Armenian and Turkish presidents, but...

"I am very disappointed with Turkey's blockade," the EPP President said during a joint briefing with the RA Prime Minister.

As far as Turkey's EU integration is concerned, the EPP President reminded that one of the major aims of EU integration is not just economic standards, but people's free move within the European Union.

"That is one of the most basic standards for the European Union. The integration of a candidate country is based on these main standards and of course, the establishment of normal relations between Turkey and Armenia would have had a more favorable impact on Turkey's EU integration," Wilfried Martens said. Martens' delegation is in Armenia to discuss the integration of the Republican Party of Armenia into the EPP.

During today's briefing, journalists also asked Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan questions. In response to the question on nuclear security, the prime minister said the energy minister has been assigned to join interested departments to revise all rules of Armenia's security and the situation once again by taking into account the events that took place in Japan.

"The drill is over. This month, we are expecting the visit of MAGATE's mission of specialists to Armenia. For two weeks, the specialists will conduct stress tests to reveal the weak and strong sides of Armenia's nuclear plant. We are ready for the meeting and have prepared to raise the level of our nuclear plant's security," the prime minister said.
