Karapetyan left discontent

Politics

Many people promised to support, but they didn't show up," said leader of the "People's Party" Tigran Karapetyan as he began his speech at the rally held near the Matenadaran, offended by the small number of people. He said there will come a day when those people will realize that only with the party will they be able to achieve results.

Based on Tigran Karapetyan's calculations, there were only 800 people at the rally and they were his partisans.

"Yes, we are few, but we are Armenians-pure and honest. We have worked sincerely for our people and that will be in principle," said Karapetyan. Police officers at the rally avoided releasing any figure and believed Tigran Karapetyan.

Karapetyan called on the gathered to not lose hope because it's not about quantity, but quality.

"We have gathered the masses and they will come," the members of the PP assured. Attending the rally was MP Vardan Khachatryan, but he didn't speak this time.

In his speech, Tigran Karapetyan declared that the current authorities are leading the country toward destruction and asked a rhetorical question why Armenians are successful in other countries and not in the homeland.

Tigran Karapetyan assured that all he needs is to see people feel safe, but said he didn't see a future here.

The "People's Party" had foreseen a march to the government building and then the presidential residence. But the march didn't take place due to the small number of people. As for the next rally, Tigran Karapetyan underlined that the party wouldn't mention the date until people are not ready to stand up for their rights and come out strong.

After the rally, in response to journalists' questions, the leader of the "People's Party" clarified why he held a rally at the Matenadaran and not Freedom Square.

"Freedom Square is not a symbol for our party. It has always been a symbol of culture. We see that the people are disappointed. They have been tricked, but not me. We will create an alliance of patriotic forces. I am proud to be alone and to be able to face evil alone."
