Demand 1: 100% proportional system
The draft amendments to the Armenian Electoral Code do not meet the international standards for free and fair democratic elections, ARF-initiated "Public movement for the protection of electoral rights" announced on Friday.
The movement demands that the parliament take into consideration the proposals of the civil society and parliamentary opposition during the discussion of the amendments.
In its 21-page statement, the movement suggests publicizing voters' lists and forming election commissions from the coalition government and parliamentary opposition on an equal (50/50) basis.
The amendments were approved by the Armenian parliament in the first reading in March.
