Levon Ter-Petrosyan meets U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary

Armenia's first President Levon Ter-Petrosyan met with Tina S. Kaidanow, U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.

The interlocutors discussed measures to overcome the political and socio-economic crisis in ARmneia. In particular, they discussed the possibility of starting a dialogue between the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and authorities after the fulfillment of the opposition demands and the necessity of hold extraordinary elections.

The parties also analyzed the ways to fight against the widespread corruption, criminal-oligarchic system, massive wave of emigration and to create favorable conditions for small and medium-sized businesses.

The meeting also focused on the prospects of the Karabakh conflict settlement and Armenian-Turkish peace deal.

U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch, representatives of the HAK Central Office Levon Zurabyan and Avetis Avagyan participated in the meeting.
