Copies of destroyed khachkars to be consecrated
On April 30, the Armenian Apostolic Church will celebrate the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist (also known as Decollation of Saint John the Baptist and Beheading of the Forerunner).
This is a holy day observed by various Christian churches which follow liturgical traditions. The day commemorates the martyrdom of Saint John the Baptist.
A divine liturgy will be served in Kond's St. Hovhannes Mkrtich Church by Archbishop Navasard Kchoyan, Primate of the Ararat Diocese.
At the end of the liturgy, Archbishop Kchoyan will consecrate the copies of khachkars which were destroyed in Jugha (Julfa) and the cross of Ohanavank Monastery, the press service of the Ararat Diocese reported.
