UNESCO Prize to Garni
By the decision of the UNESCO Director General based on the conclusion of the international awards committee, Armenia's "Garni" historical-cultural reserve-museum and the Batir site located in Palestine will share the 2011 UNESCO-GREECE Melina Mercury Prize this year.
The award will officially be presented at the central headquarters of UNESCO in Paris on May 24.
The UNESCO-Greece Melina Mercury Prize is granted once every two years to individuals or organizations that have made notable contributions to the preservation and management of cultural landshaft.
