Serzh Sargsyan likes cooperation between authorities and opposition
On the eve of the opposition's rally in Yerevan, Serzh Sargsyan spoke about the country's political scene.
"Cleavages cannot yield good results or guarantee the country's further development. We must be able to control anger, because anger impedes resolution of problems. Only strong people can overcome malice. We have strong coalition and strong opposition. The latter will not allow the government to weaken its vigilance. We can ensure considerable progress in our country through cooperation. We are ready to become pioneers and make steps towards easing tensions. I have already issued necessary orders to the minister of justice," said Sargsyan.
He says it is necessary to accelerate steps towards establishing civil society and to make steps towards reducing the number of desperate people. Sargsyan also noted that notices positive trends in the activities of the extra-parliamentary opposition: extra-parliamentary forces do not seek to divide the society, but aim to shift the political struggle onto a certain platforms.
"I like the way the organizers of rallies and police collaborate, and thanks God, no violations of public order has been observed for a long time," said the head of the country.
"As a result of this cooperation Liberty Square can become a place for expressing alternative opinions. This is the real meaning of Liberty Square. With joint efforts we can erase the wide-spread opinion that Liberty Square is the platform that feeds extremism," he concluded.
