World weightlifting champion Nazik Avdalyan is undergoing a medical examination in Yerevan's Erebuni medical centre. Avdalyan will likely undergo an operation on Thursday, April 28, the Weightlifting Federation of Armenia told A1+.

European and world champion Nazik Avdalyan got in a car crash on Tuesday on Gyumri-Vanadzor highway. Avdalyan was taken to Gyumri hospital, then to Erebuni medical centre in Yerevan for additional examination. She got bone fractures and a spine injury.

Doctors are presently preparing the weightlifter for the operation. Whether Avdalyan will be able to continue her sports career or not will be known after the operation.
