March with torches: demand from Georgian parliament
Last evening, a traditional march in memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide was held in Akhalkalak, Javakhk.
Before the march that started from the Youth Center in Akhalkalak, the participants read the letter of Akhalkalak Municipality in which it was stated: "We the youth call on you, the deputies of the council of Akhalkalak Municipality to not only light candles and lay flowers at the memorials and cross-stones on April 24, but present the Armenian Genocide issue to the Georgian parliament with the demand of introducing the issue in the agenda and the official recognition and condemnation of the 1915 Armenian Genocide. By that you will truly affirm the fact that you were chosen by the people."
According to A-Info agency, despite the downpour, the participants moved through the central street to the Culture Home, turned left and handed the letter ot the reception correspondents at the Akhalkalak Municipality council.
Like every year, the last stop was at Holy Cross Church where the youth made a call for restoration of justice to all mankind and reaffirmed their will and determination to be more active.
This year, the march was organized by "Zori Zoryan" Youth Association and the Youth Center of Akhalkalak again. Unlike previous years, this time there were more participants. A similar event has been organized in the Baralet village of Akhalkalak as well.
