A group of youth organizations today a protest action outside the U.S. Embassy in Yerevan on Friday urging the U.S. President to honour his presidential pledge and recognize the Armenian Genocide.

"U.S. Presidents have developed a bad habit of breaking their pre-election pledges. We demand that President Barack Obama honor his solemn promise to acknowledge the Armenian Genocide," said Ashot Zakaryan, vice-chairman of "Youth Will" NGO.

The protesters handed over a letter to the embassy's press attaché who promised to personally give the letter to Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch.

"In 2010, we held protests in the cities of Syunik marz (province), rallying about 40 000-50 000 young people. We again addressed a letter to Ambassador Yovanovitch but so far we have received no reply," said protester Rudolf Sargsyan.

The protesters are going to gather outside the Embassy in May if they do not receive an answer by then.
