Parents’ complaint heard?
Last evening, the mayor of Yerevan met with parents who are discontent with the recent verbal instruction regarding kindergartens.
According to the instruction, the doors of kindergartens in Kentron district had to be closed at 8:30 and parents say the instruction is already fruitful.
After the meeting, kindergarten directors were instructed to provide the number of children attending the kindergartens at 9 a.m. for the first time and at 9:30 a.m. the second time instead of 8:30 a.m.
The law "On Preschool Education" states that "a flexible working schedule is prescribed at the kindergarten by the consent of parents or their legal guardians."
This means that parents can file an appeal to the kindergarten director and take their children to the kindergarten at the hour stated in the appeal. If the appeal is denied or there are problems with a child's free schedule, parents can appeal to the court.
Parents already filed appeals to directors of a number of kindergartens today.
