Member of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) Karapet Rubinyan has suspended his membership with the HAK.

"My moral responsibility before the political prisoners which prevented me from suspending my membership continues to prick my conscience. On the other hand, the psychological tense atmosphere and fanatic hostility make it impossible and senseless to keep the last bridge," Rubinyan said in a statement posted on Facebook social utility.

Rubinyan said that he continues to admire the determination and commitment of his friends who are struggling for democratic Armenia.

"First of all, I mean my friends who are in jail for their beliefs. It is a crime to tolerate the inhuman, anti-national and criminal regime. Every political force or individual who does not recognize this regime and struggles against it is my ally and friend. Freedom to the political prisoners! Down with the criminal and oligarchic regime," said Rubinyan.

A1+ contacted Karapet Rubinyan to find out the reasons for the decision.

"I am not going to answer any questions," said Rubinyan adding that he will keep silent till April 28.
