"Ter-Petrosyan did not conclude any deal with the authorities"
Vice-Speaker of the RA Parliament Samvel Nikoyan dismisses rumors about an alleged deal between the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and the country's leadership.
"If I were a dishonest person, I would seize the opportunity and say that the sides have concluded a deal but I see no cooperation between Levon Ter-Petrosyan [HAK leader] and Serzh Sargsyan [RA President]," said Nikoyan.
Speaking about the possibility of the civil disobedience if the authorities fail to meet the opposition's demands before the opposition's rally of April 28, Samvel Nikoyan said, "I do not think that April 28 will be the day of watershed or a final rupture of relations between the authorities and the opposition. It will be the continuation of the existing favorable atmosphere."
Nikoyan is uncertain whether the authorities will meet the opposition's demands before April 28.
The parliament vice-speaker is confident that Levon Ter-Petrosyan's teammates and other opposition forces, who want to be more catholic than the Pope, exert pressure on the HAK leader.
During the April 8 rally, ANC leader Ter-Petrosyan demanded from the authorities that they release all "political prisoners," allow free organization of rallies at Liberty Square, as well as investigate the March 1, 2008, events.
Earlier today, HAK coordinator Levon Zurabyan said that April 28 will be a symbolic day as it will either mark separation between the authorities and public or inaugurate a dialogue between the sides.
