Vote on pension bill postponed
The Armenian parliament today postponed the voting on the bill on making addenda and amendment to the RA Law on Minimum Basket of Social Welfare. The bill was submitted by the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D).
Before the voting, the Chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) faction Galust Sahakyan said that the faction would not vote on the "untimely bill". Aram Safaryan, Secretary of the Prosperous Armenia (BHK) faction, made a similar statement.
"I think that the ruling parties approve the bill but they are against its adoption at present," said ARF-D faction chairman Vahan Hovhannisyan.
"The government admitted yesterday they have no funds to raise pensions and allowances. So let us put off the voting for 15 days and prove the authorities they have the money," he said.
"The government objects to the bill saying they have no funds for such reforms. We are ready to wait for tow weeks. In the meantime, the coalition will realize that the country has the money," Vahan Hovhannisyan told A+.
The ARF-D offers to increase pensions and allowances from to AMD 61, 000.
