PACE delegates support Postanjian’s proposal
A group of delegates of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have joined the statement of Zaruhi Postanjian, member of the Armenian delegation to the PACE, blaming Azerbaijan for increasing its military budget and for continuing bellicose propaganda. The delegates shared the view that Azerbaijan failed to fulfill its obligations and commitments and denounced the country's threats to shoot down planes bound for Stepanakert.
The statement reads that Azerbaijan's behavior imperils the fragile peace reached as a result of a ceasefire agreement between Armenia, Azerbaijan and Karabakh.
Further, the document says that Armenia is ready to withdraw snipers from the line of contact between Karanakh and Azerbaijani armed forces while Azerbaijan refuses the proposal bringing different reasons every time.
The PACE delegates call on Azerbaijan to accept the proposals and fulfill its commitments in order to reach a peaceful regulation of the Karabakh conflict.
The document was approved by 25 PACE members, including Greek, Russian, French, Portuguese, Spanish, English, Bulgarian, Irish and Slovak delegates.
