The rally of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) kicked off near Matenadaran at 6:30 p.m.

The number of HAK ralliers is increasing near Matenadaran amid government's efforts to hinder the attendance of rural residents to the opposition's rally.

HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan mounted the rostrum a couple of minutes ago amid warm applause. In the meantime, an incident broke out between the ralliers and policemen who tried to stop the protesters who allegedly headed to Liberty Square - a key square in the center of Yerevan.

Before the rally, the board chairman of the Armenian National Movement (HHSh) Aram Manukyan called on the police not to interfere in the rally and keep public order on the site.
