Former mayor’s protest
Former mayor of Ararat Hakob Tovmasyan sent the RA Prosecutor General a statement regarding a crime. Mr. Tovmasyan presented "A1+" with several documents charging incumbent mayor Abraham Babayan with falsifications.
The former mayor has also sent letters of similar content to Serzh Sargsyan, governor of Ararat Edik Barseghyan, RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, Secretary of the National Security Council Artur Baghdasaryan, Head of the RA Special Investigative Service Andranik Mirzoyan and other corresponding bodies.
Based on Hakob Tovmasyan's arguments, by forging his signature, as well as falsifying the decisions of the mayor and the council of elders, the incumbent mayor alienated and personally purchased significant buildings for community activities.
The copies of the decisions of the mayor and the council of elders, which are kept in the cadastre's property alienation files provided by the Real Estate Management territorial subdivision in Ararat, served as grounds for the former mayor to reveal these falsifications.
In his statement, former mayor Tovmasyan also states that the council of elders examined the issue related to the decision on alienating these territories. "The most ridiculous thing is that the incumbent mayor was recognized as the winner of the auction that he personally organized and, according to the law, he is officially the president of the auction committee," as stated in Hakob Tovmasyan's letter. The former mayor of Ararat asks the corresponding bodies to bring the culprits to justice.
The RA Prosecutor General's Office has responded to the former mayor's appeal. As the Department of Public Relations of the Prosecutor General's Office told "A1+", former mayor Hakob Tovmasyan's appeal has been sent to the department of the protection of state interests and a trade expert examination is underway.
