“Samson Khachatryan will not ask”
Samson Khachatryan's attorney Ara Zakaryan will appeal the ruling of the RA Criminal Court of Appeals at the Cassation Court.
Today the Criminal Court of Appeals denied the appeal against the decision on choosing arrest as a precautionary measure for Armenian National Congress supporter, boxer Samson Khachatryan.
"The judge was not impartial and the trial was formal. The investigator had petitioned to choose arrest as a precautionary measure because he had to take adequate action, but the end of the preliminary inquiry was announced three days after the March 15 ruling," says the attorney.
As for the fact that President of Armenia's National Olympic Committee Gagik Tsarukyan met Serzh Sargsyan and asked him to set a more extenuating penalty, the attorney mentioned that Samson Khachatryan doesn't find himself guilty and says he is being persecuted for his political views.
"Samson Khachatryan is not planning on asking anybody for a more extenuating punishment because he is innocent," says Ara Zakaryan.
Journalist-publicist Suren Sargsyan told "A1+" that during the rally on March 1, police officers dressed in civil uniforms pushed and shoved rally participants and one of the female participants fell to the ground.
"Samson Khachatryan tried to call a boy to order and it turned out that that boy was a police officer," said Suren Sargsyan.
Samson Sargsyan is charged with applying force against an authority representative.
Doctors say Samson Khachatryan is not doing too well after a difficult heart surgery 4 months ago.
"He has trouble sleeping at night. He asks for help, but they don't call the doctors. His treatment isn't over yet. He is still on medication," says Khachatryan's son Sargis.
The preliminary inquiry of Samson Khachatryan's case is over, but it still hasn't been sent to the court.
