Armavir residents go to street over fraudulent mayoral elections
A group of people have blocked Armavir-Yerevan highway protesting the results of the March 20 mayoral elections in Armavir. Mayoral nominee Sevak Minasyan is among the protesters who demand "to nullify the fraudulent election."
After yesterday's poll, Minasyan declared that the elections were marred by massive fraud and vote rigging and said he was going to sue the territorial election commissions.
Ruben Khlghatyan was reelected as Armavir's mayor with 6849 votes.
According to the Central Election Commission, voter turnout totaled 14 164.
Khlghatyan's rivals Sevak Minasyan, Arnak Gevorgyan and Karen Vardanyan received 5811, 710 and 330 votes respectively.
