Azerbaijan fires 1300 shots in a week
Some 200 ceasefire violations at the line of contact between the NKR and Azerbaijani armed forces were reported during the last week. Azerbaijan fired 1300 shots at NKR positions, NKR Defense Army press service reported.
Despite the agreement on strengthening of trust reached during the Sochi-hosted tripartite meeting of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents, Azerbaijani continues its provocations, further straining the military-political situation in the region.
Azerbaijan's firing upon Armenian positions after the March 5 Sochi presidential statement and an hour after the swap of POWs proves that Azerbaijan not only violates the ceasefire but also ignores peace efforts to resolve the conflict. This fact should receive a proper assessment by international organizations engaged in resolution of the conflict," NKR Defense Army said in a statement.
Armenian serviceman Aharon Hayrapetyan was killed on March 17 as a result of Azerbaijani firing upon the eastern direction (near Askeran) of the contact line.
