The founding leader of opposition Heritage Party, Raffi Hovannisian, who has been on hunger strike since March 15, continues his protest at Yerevan's Liberty Square.

Hovannisian went on an indeterminate hunger strike on Tuesday demanding Armenia's leadership to hold fresh presidential and parliamentary elections. He pledges to proceed with his "freedom fast" as long as God gives him strength.

Armenia's Justice Minister Hrayr Tovmasyan yesterday visited Raffi Hovannisian to get acquainted with his concerns.

However, after the Minister's departure Hovannisian was again prohibitted to put up a tent at the square.
"The issue is decided in higher echelons," said the Heritage leader.

Speaking about the March 17 rally of the opposition Armneian National Congress (HAK), which started near Matendaran and continued at Liberty Square, Mr. Hovannisian said, "The regaining of the hallowed ground of Armenian insurrection was a victory achieved by the will of the people. It declares the start of a pan-national triumph and means that people will impose a new resolution on the opposition. Separate struggle will lead to disappointment and frustration."

Raffi Hovannisian thinks that the opposition should take serious measures before the next rally announced on April 8.
