Demanding new elections
Nearly 60.000-70,000 supporters of the Armenian National Congress greeted RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan and other opposition leaders with screams of "Levon, President" and rounds of applause. Leader of the People's Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchyan, leader of the "Republic" party Aram Sargsyan and others are at the rostrum.
Before the launch of the rally, the gathered respected the memory of the victims of the earthquake in Japan and those who died for independence in the Arab World with a moment of silence.
Chairman of the Board of the Armenian Pan-National Movement Aram Manukyan is hosting today's rally. He welcomed everyone and assured that victory is near.
Residents of different provinces were also at the rally with signs showing photos of political prisoners from their respective communities. They also had some signs demanding new elections. There are many young people and even children at today's rally and the people have come with greater expectations.
The rally stretches from the Matenadaran to Nairi Cinema. There has not been any clash between the police and demonstrators. Today there are more police officers near Freedom Square. Let us remind that leader of "Heritage" party Raffi Hovhannisian is at Freedom Square.
