Armenian parliamentarians and government ministers today debated over gas prices and migration.
In a letter addressed to the government freelance deputy Victor Dallakyan has expressed concern over unprecedented increase in migration rate.

"Every fifth Armenian lives in abject poverty, which has raised the level of suicides," Dallakyan wrote in the letter.

"Actually, the number of poor people is more than reported officially. Poverty has become our first and foremost concern. What efforts is the government taking to reduce poverty?" the deputy asked.

In reply, Minister of Economy Tigran Davtyan said that the issue has become the primary task of the executive body.

"The economic global crisis has had its direct influence on Armenia and its economy. The government is reconsidering its strategy and will soon present a program of sustainable economy," said the minister adding that the government has directed AMD 44 billion to the social sphere.

To reduce poverty we must develop our economy," said Davtyan.
