Calling on a more active struggle
The Committee for Political Prisoners and the Persecuted of Armenia has made a declaration:
"Recently, the general jurisdiction court of the Kentron and Nork-Marash districts of Yerevan held a closed-door session and upheld the National Security Service's appeal to send Tigran Postanjyan to prison. Tigran Postanjyan is the brother of NA MP Zaruhi Postanjyan.
Judging from the press articles, the working style of prosecutors and the National Security Service, this is another act aimed at impeding MP Zaruhi Postanjyan's active public and political activities.
Zaruhi Postanjyan is one of the exceptional deputies of the RA National Assembly who has always visited and visits the political prisoners to support, protect and show assistance.
Her efforts for the protection of the rights of different layers of society and within European organizations deserve special attention.
The Committee for Political Prisoners and the Persecuted of Armenia has often anticipated and received her support throughout its activities. We express our support to Zaruhi Postanjyan and call on the society to fight more actively for their rights. Only a united and continued struggle against this regime can put an end to this and other types of political persecutions in our country," as stated in the declaration.
