Case against school principal
By an indication from the Armavir province prosecutor, the investigative department of the RA Police Criminal Cases Department has instigated a criminal case in relation to the abuse of official powers by the principal of high school N2 in Echmiadzin.
On February 15-16, "168 Hours" daily published an article entitled "The school principal cursed at me". According to the article, former 10th grade student of high school N2 of Echmiadzin city A. Harutyunyan had been persecuted by school principal S. Nazaryan's son and his friends since December 2010 and was beaten on January 31, 2011.
The next day, school principal A. Harutyunyan cursed, beat and scratched him with his nails in front of the whole class, after which he made him transfer to another school and gave a strict warning to the child's grandmother, who is a history teacher at the school.
In relation to the above mentioned, by the indication of the Armavir province prosecutor on 15 February 2011, the Armavir investigative department has prepared materials the study, after which the investigative division of Vagharshapat has instigated a criminal case under Part 1, Article 309 of the RA Criminal Code.
By the assignment of the Armavir province prosecutor, the preliminary investigative body has checked all press releases regarding the criminal case in order to ensure objectivity, pluralism and completeness, as reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office.
