"Revolutionary wave will not reach Armenia"
"The revolutionary wave that has shocked the world is unlikely to reach Armenia," National Assembly Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan told journalists on February 7.
He dismissed the possibility of a "twitter" revolution in Armenia.
"Armenian authorities are doing their utmost to settle all issues peacefully and in a tolerant manner. I do not see any social tension in the country. We simply need to overcome the global economic crisis. The government and the parliament at the head of President are doing everything possible to alleviate the situation. Not a single social program has been curtailed in the past two years," said Mr. Abrahamyan.
Regarding the differences between the coalition forces, the NA Speaker noted that the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) has always supported and will support President Serzh Sargsyan. Further, he reminded that during the 2008 presidential elections BHK expressed its readiness to support Serzh Sargsyan's candidature.
"I think that BHK will reiterate its support for Serzh Sargsyan as the party did during the 2008 presidential elections," added Mr. Abrahamyan.
