Welcomed the revolt in Egypt
HAK youth members today expressed their support for citizens of Egypt.
"The youth of the oppositionist HAK (Armenian National Congress) welcome and express their support for Egyptian citizens' fight against dictatorship. We are closely following your revolt for peace, the homeland and justice. We admire your spirit of resistance, persistence and the manifestations of a high level of civil awareness and are sure that you will win the struggle. We believe there should be no more dictatorship and that it should give way to new forces that have matured in society. We hope that it will be possible to avoid new victims, chaos and ensure a peaceful transition to a new situation.
Having a three-year experience of struggle against similar dictatorship in our country, we perceive and understand your indignation, determination and desire for freedom without "translation". Unfortunately, such a revolt that took place in February 2008 in Armenia was oppressed through bloodshed with the help of armed forces and the armed bandits that opened fire against hundreds of thousands of people who were taking part in a peaceful protest for 10 days. Although our struggle was not successful and many people were sent to prison for their ideals by the silent consent of the "democratic" West and "strategic ally" Russia, the struggle didn't fade away and we have been showing resistance to the police for the past three years.
We call on all influential organizations around the world not to support ambiguous calls, not to cling from the false stability of dictatorship, but support the youth and the progressive struggle guided by universal values and not false geopolitics. We are certain that the whole world will win through a show of determination and idealism. It is impossible to stop the flow of history with artificial barriers. If we cling from them today and stop progress even for a temporary period, tomorrow we will see a bigger and more unpredictable explosion.
Once again, we welcome our Egyptian friends and are certain that they will not step down from their principles and the struggle. Fight, fight until the end!" as stated in the declaration of the youth committee of the HAK.
