Minister Ohanyan promises not to sleep on laurels
Yerablur Pantheon was overcrowded on January 28.
From early morning, people were going to the Pantheon to commemorate their relatives and soldiers who gave their lives for Armenia's independence.
President Serzh Sargsyan accompanied by Catholicos of All-Armenian, Speaker of the National Assembly, Defense Minister and government officials visited Yerablur in the morning.
"Armenian army is ready to face any challenge," Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told reporters at Yerablur Pantheon.
"Army's achievements are encouraging but we should not lose our heads and rest on laurels. We should address our shortcomings and work out a program for their elimination. I promise you in this holly place that the army will solve all issues and guarantee peace in the country," said the Minister.
Speaking about the recent cases of ceasefire violations, Minister Ohanyan said that tension reduced at the end of 2010, but today it is again apparent.
"The Armenian side is always ready to resist any assault of the rival. We are ready to protect our borders with our morale and readiness. It is the fighting spirit and high morale that indicates the army's fighting efficiency," he noted.
Answering A1+'s question whether Karabakh war veterans will again struggle for Karabakh if military hostilities resume, Ohanyan said: "Any participant in the Karabakh war, who endangered his life for his motherland, will do it again if Nagorno-Karabakh appears in danger. No social problems will prevent him from doing so."
